This is something I seriously need to work on... At the beginning of a video about teaching kids yoga, a woman is explaining to a young boy how to cross his legs and sit in "that yoga posture" - you know, the one where you're sitting on a floor and trying to cross your legs, keeping your back straight while not grimacing?
Just the mere act - or attempted act - of crossing my legs while sitting is not going so well..
Or maybe from another perspective, it's going perfectly well: I'm trying, I'm exploring, I'm able to just relax into whatever I can relax into.
"Be a kid, be a baby..." "Don't let anyone rush you into anything..."
"Just run with your own energy, have fun..."
There's a perspective that our bodies are containers of energy, and sometimes that energy isn't moving around so well, and sometimes there's energy that ends up getting "situated" - not moving, just kind of being there - and maybe that's where our aches and pains and stiffness come from, issues, baggage, who knows what all "stuff" that we aren't allowing to move around enough, or to move out beyond this physical body... So from this perspective, to stretch is to explore possibilities for that energy to be allowed to move, to break out of that situatedness and begin to be able to head on out...
So I'll work on some stretching while, oh yeah, trying to remember to breathe at the same time...
